The Man Behind the Lens
George Barfield was born and raised in Macon, GA. A
graduate of Lanier  High School, he attended Middle Georgia
College, and Mercer University.  He became interested in
photography as a scoutmaster in the early 1970's. In a class at
Macon Junior College, he was introduced to the Ansel Adams
school of art photography.  The works of Adams and especially
Edward Weston have influenced the direction of George's
personal work.

George has done work for the Macon Heritage Foundation on
the architecture of Macon that has been utilized in their
calendars as well as their Walking Tour brochure. His work has
been shown at the Work of His Hands Gallery, Atlanta and The
Macon Arts Gallery, Macon.
